Hand Me Down Princess
by
Carol Moncado

About the Book
Prince Malachi Van Renssalaer of Mevendia is getting married. The problem? He’s never even met his bride. His father arranged everything, right down to the marriage contract. Malachi swears to himself that he will be nothing like his father in the ways that count - including his fidelity to his wife.
Jessabelle Keller would happily spend her entire life in obscurity, but her father once saved the life of a future king. Before he dies, her father is committed to seeing that king make good on his promise to have one of his sons marry her so she would be taken care of for life.

No sooner than Prince Malachi and Jessabelle return from their honeymoon, they find themselves dealing with both private trauma and the very public drama of groundless accusations from the press. Just as they begin to weave their fragile trust back together, a ghost from the king’s past arrives and threatens everything they’ve ever held dear.
Secrets have a funny way of coming out and this one could rip the faith of the country in their leaders to shreds. Malachi is determined to protect Jessabelle no matter what it takes, but will it ever be enough for her to not feel like a Hand-Me-Down Princess?

My Review
I really enjoyed this book but the ending...was left open to me it seems...really bummed...because I probably won't get the following books in this series unless they all come up for review !?! Page one you meet them both as they begin their lives together as a married couple. I do not know if I could have done that but have never been there. Prince Malachi is a wonderful Christian man with a much patience, compassion and empathy for his new bride. He was so gentle and loving toward her; he treated her as precious to him, but also reminded her that her identity came from God not man. I liked getting to know Jessabelle and see her grow into her place in the royal family. The relationship development between Jessabelle and Malachi was also very touching. But, it was missing something not sure what it is...maybe the other characters were not learned more about to get a real feel for the family...I really enjoyed the book!!!
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a princess story!

DEAD DOGS LIKE ME
by
Max Davis

ABOUT BOOK
Megachurch pastor Nick Gregory's life is falling apart. His wife is filing for divorce. His congregation is questioning his leadership. His faith is nearly nonexistent. It goes down hill from there. When he regains consciousness after a horrific car crash, Nick realizes he is no longer in his hometown or even in the twenty-first century.
Transported back in time to 800 B.C. and into the body of King Saul s grandson Mephibosheth, Nick must quickly adapt to a completely different way of living. Can the experience of living as a another broken man, desperate for God s healing, bring healing to Nick himself if he can ever get back home?
A novel of adventure, redemption, and outrageous grace, Dead Dog Like Me takes you back in time to know more deeply a God who never changes, a God who lavishes you with His love.

MY REVIEW
A well-written book takes you to a different place and time, allowing you to identify with the characters and story. It's nothing new for God to use stories to reveal himself to us.. The spiritual truths that Max presents through the struggles of the characters  will linger on long after you turn the last page. Max is a gifted storyteller with an inside understanding of Gods mercy and grace, he paints an amazing story of God's overflowing grace, reminding us of His love for us in the midst of the messes we make.
This is a story I needed to read .This novel has a great message. Although we are broken, although we are ruined, God can restore us to be the person He has designed us to be.
It won 't be easy. Cutting away the bits God does not want in our lives can be painful. We may lose possessions, reputation and status. But what we find in a life surrendered to God is worth it.
I HIGHLY recommend ths book to everyone!!!

ABOUT THE BOOK

They want to worship as their hearts demand...but is it something they can give up everything for?
Brianna has only ever been what her life demanded. A wife, a hostess, a mother. But when a stand her husband takes ostracizes them from the Lutheran church that controls so much of life in Sweden, Brianna finds herself needing to find a strength beyond her station...a strength that will see her through prejudice and persecution and to a home she never dreamed she would find.
Based on the true story of the author s family s journey from Sweden to America, this sweeping saga paints the brilliance of new faith, the bravery of a new land...and the beauty of plunging beneath the waters and emerging a new person, capable of what one never thought one could do.
